How It All Started
Buffalo Stadium Stones began with giant oval rocks excavated from beneath the new Buffalo football stadium. Local artist Richard “Sean” Manning originally purchased the rocks for a waterfall installation at his Western New York art studio.
As the rocks were being unloaded, a small piece broke off. Sean slipped it into his pocket and after carrying it for several days, he noticed something unique: the rock had polished itself to a deep, jet-black finish.
Sean’s wife and Buffalo Stadium Stones co-founder, Laura Jean, began researching the rocks. She discovered a public engineering report documenting the geology and history of the stadium site. Together, they realized these
weren’t just rocks. They were tangible pieces of Buffalo’s story and they belonged in the hands of Buffalo fans.
In 2024, Buffalo Stadium Stones was born transforming the metamorphic rock into Rub Rocks and Wearable Art Jewelry to give Buffalo football fans a piece of the story while raising funds for worthy causes.
